About This Piece

These slender linear earrings interpret the ancient craft of Chinese Xipi raw lacquer. Each rectangular bar pendant is built on a solid sandalwood base, crafted with traditional Xipi (Rhinoceros Skin) raw lacquer technique. Layer upon layer of natural raw lacquer is brushed, cured and polished over weeks. Delicate gold leaf is laid within the lacquer, forming stunning scattered orange-gold metallic streaks against the deep dark lacquer background.
